What’s your name and role on the team?

My name is Emily Zeigafuse and I'm a Peer Support Team Member.

What inspired you to join the peer support team?

I have always been the type of person to be there for anyone who needed me, no matter the reason. I wanted to become a part of the MCSO peer support team to continue helping my fellow coworkers on a larger scale. I believe that we should always lend a helping hand in any way that we can.

What’s your background or experience with peer support?

Throughout my childhood, I always was the go-to friend whenever someone needed help or just needed to talk to. This continued into adulthood, both professionally and personally. I have now been on the MCSO Peer Support Team since November 2022 and have taken part in a few debriefings and additional peer support contacts.

What’s one piece of advice or encouragement you’d share with someone seeking support?

No matter what you’re going through, never be afraid to reach out and talk to someone. You are never alone.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I spend a lot of my time outside of work being outside, whether it be at the beach, at a state park, or in my backyard.

How can people reach out to you?

Whatever way is easiest for the individual. I can respond to text, phone calls, emails or even an in-person visit. I work Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.
