What's your name and role on the team?

My name is Michon Fabio and I am the Health & Wellness Coordinator for Marion County.

What inspired you to join the peer support team?

What inspired me to join the peer support team is a deeply personal experience. When my dad passed away, I found myself wishing for someone who could help guide me through the grief, someone who could provide the support I needed to cope with the overwhelming emotions. That experience made me realize how important it is to have a support system during tough times.

What's your background or experience with peer support?

As the Health & Wellness Coordinator, I have made sure to take every opportunity to learn as much as I can and be as helpful as I can for my peers.

What's one piece of advice or encouragement you'd share with someone seeking support?

One piece of advice I would share with someone seeking support is to remember that it's okay to not have all the answers or feel "okay" right away. Healing, growth, and change take time, and seeking support is a brave step in the right direction. It's important to be kind to yourself and allow yourself the space to process and heal at your own pace. You don't have to face challenges alone-there are people who care, and reaching out for help shows strength, not weakness.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Dancing and painting always give me peace in my spare time.
